The Teatro di San Carlo is an opera house in Naples, Italy. It is the oldest continuously active such venue in Europe. Teatro di San Carlo is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. On 12 February 1816 the San Carlo was destroyed by fire. However, it was re-designed by the architect Antonio Niccolini and rebuilt within ten months on order of King Ferdinand IV, another Bourbon monarch and son of Charles III
