The buildings are currently used by various companies, museums and different shops. The magazin "mare" has its main office in the area for example. There are also smaller areas with appartments in different size and price ranges. As one can imagine it is definitely not the cheapest area of Hamburg... ;)
Have a look in wikipedia or the hamburg.de website, there are some interesting spots mentioned.
Besides the museum - does anybody know what is inside the speicherstadt buildings? It's not a warehouse anymore, is it? I thought I heard the buildings were refurbished a while ago and there are now condos and lofts...I think that sound great. I it true?
The museum can be rented as a location for your private party or business event after opening hours. http://www.speicherstadtmuseum.de

The Speicherstadt (Bonded Warehouse District) was established at the end of the 1800s as a Free Port. The brick warehouses with streetfronts and waterfronts, some as high as seven stories, present an impressive architectural uniformity, broken occasionally by Gothic features including turrets, gables, bays and cornices.
