These were the headquarters of the Energy giant Enron, which declared bankruptcy in 2001. Due to accounting fraud 22,000 employees lost their jobs also related to massive corruption in their company. As a result, this building and Enron became popular symbols for illegal transactions, corruption and corporate mismanagement.
