"Air" and "Rail"

The building's name composed of "Air" and "Rail" certainly alludes to the fact that it is built above a railway station and right next to the Frankfurt International Airport.

Two different companies were hired to build one tower each. So from the very beginning there was a competition which tower would be finished first. During construction of the skybridge several lightnings struck the building and blackouts were the consequence. Fortunately, everything turned out all right.

I think the most famous company is the Miniatur Wunderland (http://www.miniatur-wunderland.de) and right next to it something like a "Hamburg Dungeon Fun Ride". The thing is, that both of them are quite expensive and usually very crowded.

Have a 15-minutes walk and you can visit a Russian submarine from the 70s / 80s ...

Anyway, the Speicherstadt itself is quite nice to visit.
