In my opinion the Design is really great. To me it looks like a sail/fin of a submarine jutting out of the ground and looking into the sky. By the way I think that it looks much taller than it is.

Building use

There is no specific use of the Spire. It is also known as "the monument of light" which is based on the illuminated top. Because of its use as monument and concerning its high building costs public discussion were quite controversial.

Originally the Spire was designed to avoid further developments towards urban planning neglects of that area. The city intended to refurbish the attractiveness.
