500th Urban Item

The "Eiswerder Riverside Promenade" is the 500th urban item in ourbania. I am happy to see, that it is such a beautiful project in one of my personal favorite cities. I always envied the way that the people of Berlin could and did take advanage of their waterways. Many beaches and promenades are filled with people during the day and at night.
Looks like this will be a great addition to Berlin's waterside options.

I like the style of this tower. It will be part of my next trip to Berlin. What kind of restaurant is in there? I have read that a reconstruction is planned. Do you have any idea when the tower will be reopened again?

O2 World: Gebäudedetails

Bei der entstehenden O2 World, Europas modernste Multifunktionsarena, werden nicht nur die Eishockey Mannschaft Eisbären Berlin ihre Spiele austragen, vielmehr sind bereits vor Eröffnung mehr als 300 Konzerte und Sport-Events eingeplant.

Im September 2006 konnte im Beisein des regierenden Bürgermeisters das Richtfest gefeiert werden. Worauf dieses Jahr am 10. November der "Tag der offenen Baustelle" erfolgte. Hierbei konnten sich die Bürger Berlins einen Eindruck von der O2 World verschaffen. Auch die Eurohypo AG als einer der fünf Gründungspartner sowie Finanzierer nahm an diesem Bürgerfest teil. Zum einen konnte man an einem Handballwurfwettbewerb teilnehmen, zum anderen konnte man auch eine Ausstellung von Finanzierungsprojekten sowie Informationen über das Engagement der Bank im Bereich Nachhaltigkeit im Städtebau besuchen.

Die äußere Form der Arena, die auf dem ehemaligen Gelände des Ostgüterbahnhofs erbaut wird, ist inzwischen fast vollendet. Die Struktur der 1440 Quadratmeter großen LED-Fassade -in Europa einzigartig- ist deutlich erkennbar. Die meisten Scheiben der Außenverglasung für die Front- und Seitenfassade sind bereits eingesetzt. Der Beton der Außenfassade wird mit rund 1000 Kalksteinplatten aus Portugal sowie Granit aus China verziert.

Die sich in mitten des Herzens Berlins befindende Arena, welche sich auf eine Gesamtfläche von 60.000 Quadratmeter erstreckt, wird zum Zeitpunkt der Fertigstellung 160 Meter lang, 130 Meter breit sowie 35 Meter hoch sein.

Die Gäste werden die Möglichkeit haben Restaurants (Premium Lounge, Dinner Club), über 130 Verkaufsstellen sowie zwei Geschäfte zu besuchen. Darüber hinaus werden sechs Umkleidekabinen mithin vier Star Dressing Rooms in der Multifunktionsarena bereitgestellt.
